Seminole County Sheriff's Office We are pleased to announce that we are launching a Detention Deputy Sponsorship Program! This program will cover tuition and expenses for successful applicants to attend the full-time corrections enforcement academy at Seminole State College that will take place from September 9 to November 20 of 2019. The position of Detention Deputy is responsible for the care and custody of incarcerated persons in the Seminole County Correctional Facility. Qualified candidates may apply for a limited number of paid sponsorships to attend a correctional academy to become a Detention Deputy. We are accepting pre-screen questionnaires for this program through May 31, 2019. Selection will be made through a competitive process. Qualified candidates must have a college degree or military experience (active duty or as a reserve) or three years of employment with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. Detention deputy recruits will be paid $16.68 an hour while attending the academy. After successful completion of the academy, a detention deputy’s salary is $41,030.60 annually (hourly rate $18.35), plus $2,000 in holiday pay. Our detention deputies are among the highest paid in Central Florida.
